The National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) in Nigeria has announced the suspension of its strike action after engaging in talks with the Federal Government to address concerns over high operational costs in the industry.
President Yusuf Lawal Othman disclosed the decision to resume loading of petroleum products following a meeting with government officials, including the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, and representatives from major energy marketers associations.
While acknowledging that not all demands were fully met, Othman stated that the association made concessions in the national interest and would commence operations immediately.
Senator Lokpobiri, leading the government delegation, expressed appreciation for the cooperative dialogue and assured that the government considered various factors to meet most of NARTO’s demands. This understanding led to the prompt resolution of the strike.
The joint effort between government representatives and NARTO leadership reflects a commitment to dialogue and cooperation in addressing industry challenges, with assurances of ongoing collaboration to fulfill agreed terms.
