NNPC Refutes Claims of Adulterated Petrol Sales, Asserts Commitment to Quality Control

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has firmly denied allegations that it distributes adulterated petroleum products, emphasizing its commitment to rigorous quality control measures across all operations. The statement comes in response to claims that substandard petrol was sold at one of NNPC’s retail stations in Keffi, Nasarawa State, located in north-central Nigeria.

Olufemi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer at NNPC, addressed the situation following the circulation of a video clip in which an individual displays a dark liquid, allegedly Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), that he claims was purchased from NNPC’s retail outlet at the Keffi Flyover. Soneye stated that NNPC’s attention had been drawn to this video and assured the public that the claims are baseless.

In a detailed response, Soneye explained that spot checks were conducted at all NNPC retail outlets, and no evidence was found to substantiate the allegation. The NNPC spokesperson urged the public to disregard the video, cautioning them against misleading narratives. Soneye further highlighted that the company does not dispense petroleum products into bottles or jerrycans, as depicted in the clip.

Soneye reaffirmed NNPC’s commitment to high standards, saying, “NNPCL takes pride in maintaining accurate pump integrity through regular inspection and calibration to ensure consistent quality across our stations nationwide.” He added that the company remains dedicated to providing only high-quality, safe, and reliable petroleum products across its extensive retail network.
