President Tinubu Arrives in Ghana for John Mahama’s Inauguration

Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has arrived in Accra, Ghana, ahead of the inauguration of President-elect John Dramani Mahama.

President Tinubu departed Nigeria from the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, at approximately 4:20 PM and arrived at Kotoka International Airport in Accra at about 4:05 PM local time. He was warmly received by Ghana’s Chief of Staff, Hon. Julius Debra.

During his visit, President Tinubu, who serves as the Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), will join other African leaders to witness Mahama’s swearing-in alongside his Vice President-elect, Professor Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

The visit underscores the close personal relationship between Mahama and Tinubu, as well as the longstanding bilateral ties between Nigeria and Ghana. Mahama had previously visited President Tinubu in December to strengthen these bonds.

Accompanying President Tinubu on this significant diplomatic trip are Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and other senior Nigerian government officials.

As Chairman of ECOWAS, President Tinubu’s presence further highlights the importance of regional cooperation and solidarity in advancing democracy across West Africa.
