WARRI: Hit and Run Driver Arrested and Detained

The police in Warri, Delta State have arrested a hit-and-run driver who allegedly killed a middle aged man and sped off.

The deceased, identified as Jovi Oroku was hit over the weekend along Airport Road in Warri, Delta State and left to bleed to death.

An eyewitness account says the Late Oroku was hit by the driver of a dark-red color Toyota Corolla Salon car who immediately sped off unknowing  to him that his passenger’s side mirror with his vehicle registration number inscribed on it had fallen on the spot.

However, onlookers and passers-by picked the side mirror and took it to the Warri Motor Licensing Office who later traced the particulars to belonging to one Barrister Obehi Adibu.

Adibu has been arrested and detained at the Ugborikoko Police Station, while the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Veennell Mortuary in Warri.

When contacted, the police Public Relations Officer, Celestina Kanu confirmed the incident, saying that investigation had already started.
