A suspected ritualist was set ablaze by an angry mob on Wednesday at Ughelli Main Market, in Ughelli, Delta State of Nigeria after being caught while he was trying to mutilate the body of a young woman.

The attack took place at Adagaraba street around the Ughelli Main Market, in Ughelli, Delta State.

The alleged ritualist, who posed as a customer trying to buy several items from the shop, attempted to lure the victim into the inner room of the shop, by asking for prizes of various items inside the shop.

Thereafter, he tried to strangl her but she raised an alarm to the hearing of neighbours around.

In a bid to top the victim from shouting, the attacker hit the lady with a hammer on the forehead and tried to pluck out her eyes. But, he ran out of luck as the cry of his victim attracted neighbours and passers-by who went after the suspect in a hot pursuit.

He was later caught and burnt to death by the angry mob at the median of Ughelli Market road, in Delta State.
