Okowa Advocates New Approach to Information Dissemination

Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has advocated a new approach to the process of disseminating government information.
Governor Okowa who spoke at the 46th National Council on Information held in Asaba on Friday said he has observed that while Ministry of Information is the officially designated mouth piece of government, other government appointees give out contradictory pronouncements.
The Delta Governor said such practice leads to confusion in the minds of the public and loss of confidence in government information machinery.
In a related development, the Minister of Information and Culture Alhaji Lai Mohammed has charged State Ministries of information to be proactive in promoting the change Mantra of the Federal government.
The Minister disclosed this at the opening ceremony of the 46th National Council on information which ends in Asaba today.
He enjoined his colleagues in the information management to use their skills to correct the worry perception of the international communities about Nigeria.
Lai Mohammed said perception is not the realistic way of life and appealed to Nigerians to embrace ‘The Change Beings with Me’ Campaign of the Buhari administration.

The 46th National Council on information Council Meeting is being attended by Commissioners and Directors of Information from the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.
