INYC Gives DESOPADEC a 14-Day Ultimatum

15 September 2016 State

The Itsekiri National Youth Council (INYC) has handed Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission, DESOPADEC, a 14-day ultimatum to align the 2016 Appropriation Bill to the principle of derivation, as well as the law establishing the interventionist agency.

The call was made by the Public Relation Officer and Director of Mobilization of the group, Joseph Uwawah and Dere Jarikpe in a statement at a meeting of the council in Warri.

The statement said after a critical examination of the report of the ad-hoc committee set up by the leadership of INYC, they were able to unearth the manifest alteration in the 2016 DESOPADEC Appropriation Bill in favour of the Urhobo nationality.

The group added that the board and management of DESOPADEC shouldn’t distort the law as the interventionist agency was established strictly on the principle of derivation.
