FUEL PRICE HIKE (Day 3) : NLC Protest in Ughelli, Delta State

Members of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, staged a peaceful protest in Ughelli, Delta State in the continuation of the three-day old national strike, embarked upon by labour unions in the country to demand the Federal Government’s reversal of the decision to remove fuel subsidy. The protesters, carrying placards and banners with notable inscriptions condemning the removal of fuel subsidy by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration, marched from Ekiugbo to Ughelli main market and thereafter proceeded to Post Office and AGGS Roundabout. Speaking during the protest, some labour leaders who Quest Radio correspondent, said that the Federal Government’s decision to remove the fuel subsidy at this point shows that the government does not have the interest of the masses at heart in the face of the prevailing economic hardship in the country. They urged the Federal Government to have a re-think and rescind the decision to remove the fuel subsidy in consonance with the change mantra.
